La
Centrale Américaine SA
History
of the name: La Centrale Americaine SA was
founded in 1921 by Léopold Berael.
A large proportion of the tyres sold there came from American
depots, which provided Léopold Berael with a great
opportunity to give his company a name that conjured up
pride, freedom and trust.
History:
in 1921, La Centrale Americaine consisted of a single platform,
offering customers a service for replacing and repairing
tyres.
Other businesses also saw the light of day
since rubber was a raw material that had many uses. La Centrale
Americaine even produced soles for shoes and various other
products that were designed on the first floor of the premises.
As the years went by, services were extended
along with the surface area of the business until La Centrale
Americaine became an essential stopping-off point for many
motorists in Brussels.
La Centrale Americaine has always been an
innovator and can also lay a proud claim to being a leader
in many other areas.
La Centrale Americaine was one of the first
places in Belgium to offer electronic wheel balancing and
geometry services. It was certainly the first from 1975
onwards to sell a comprehensive range of alloy wheel rims
ranging from 12 to 20 inches, featuring a wide variety of
stylish models. Jean-Jacques Berael was the man behind this
innovation.
Today more than ever, La Centrale Americaine
is an active and recognised member of FEDERAUTO, the association
of tyre specialists in Belgium - in fact, Jean-Jacques Berael
(Managing Director of La Centrale Americaine) has been president
of FEDERAUTO for the past 12 years. Previously, this position
had been occupied since the establishment of the association
by the late Léopold Berael, Jean-Jacques Berael's
elder brother.

tyre centres in Brussels and one of the three largest in
